How to install RigidRAP®?

Which way do the sheets need to be installed?
All sheets should be installed vertically for bracing. Sheets can be installed horizontally if they are not used as a bracing panel.

How much gap do I need to leave between sheets?
You need to leave a 2mm gap around all sides of the sheets for expansion and contraction. This means 4mm between the sheets on all sides. Hence the sheet width of 1196mm.

How do I join at mid-floors?
You must use a Z flashing if joining RigidRAP at mid floor level. For all other horizontal joins we recommend 150mm flashing tape.

What tapes do I use?
A list of all tapes that have been tested and approved is listed in our Installation Guide. All tape installation should be in accordance with the manufacturer's install details.

What is the nailing pattern on the sheets?
150 centres around the perimeter of the sheets and 300mm through the centres. 75mm centres on the top and bottom plate. If not used as bracing 300mm centres.

How long can the RigidRAP® be left before cladding?
You can leave outside in the weather for up to 90 days before cladding.

Can I direct fix to RigidRAP?®
Corrugated iron is the only product that can be directly fixed as this profile forms a cavity type system. Corrugated iron needs to be installed vertically when fixing directly. All other cladding products need to be fixed to a cavity system.

Can I use RigidRAP® on steel frames?
No, but you can use IBS RigidRAP®-XT. Full details are on our website.

What certification does RigidRAP® have?
IBS RigidRAP® has Codemark certification.

IBS supply IBS RigidRAP® for use as an internal or external wall bracing element when used in conjunction with a specific fixing system. Your house gets dual protection from the weather during your building process and replaces traditional building wrap. When compared to similar products it is more cost effective, easy to install, lightweight and makes your house warmer, stronger and quieter.

OSB3 (oriented strand board 3) is a moisture resistant, structural wood panel. Engineered in Germany from environmentally sustainable sourced softwood, it consists of three layers of wood strands bonded together with heat cured adhesives. Each layer is orientated at right angles to the adjacent layer creating a strong, dimensionally stable panel that resists delamination and warping. The absence of natural imperfections such as knots provides certainty of performance.

Wall underlay is a synthetic fabric sheet. The product consists of a micro-porous water-resistant polypropylene film laminated between two layers of spunbonded polypropylene.
